From "Drop Box" Dal to Darn Lucky Dal!!

pongodropboxHandsome "Pongo" was left overnight in a "drop-box" at a rural shelter in Florida. The staff felt that he still had lots of life in him despite having some medical issues so they contacted DRTB. A plea went out and then the task of finding just the right environment for Pongo since we knew nothing of his past. Thanks to Ed and Cindy for stepping up to the task of fostering.

Pongodropbox2Pongo's personality is amazing. He immediately attached himself to their 5-year-old son who also fell big time for the new spotted boy. It was obvious that Pongo had lived in a home.... he immediately made himself at home on the couch, the bed, and anywhere else where a dog should rightly be!

Things looked pretty daunting for his future since Pongo was found to have a huge bladder stone (probably why his owners left him). Because of his advanced age (~10 years old) and a mass of some kind around his heart (not to mention a huge tumor on his rear) his future didn't look very bright. Thanks to our Dal Angel Kennon H., Pongo was seen by a specialist who feels that Pongo is going to be able to have and survive surgery for the stone. He is now getting spoiled rotten while he gains weight in order to be in top shape. Fostering is no longer in the cards for Ed, Cindy and family. Pongo won't be leaving their home for another. He will be a beloved member of their two and four legged clan forever.
