Sweet/Deaf Blue Eye Finds A Home

BlueNewHome1This handsome fella came into rescue when we received a phone call from someone who had gotten him and didn't realize he was deaf. This was already his second home as the first didn't want him either, but as you can see from the email, we found someone who did! Thanks to Sandy and Brian F. for fostering our Blue.

Hello Susan,

I am writing to let you know how great Edison (fka Blue) is doing! We brought him home on June 23, so we've only had him for 2 weeks. He has made so much progress so very quickly. We could tell he was smart when we first met him, and we are so pleased with how quickly he is learning things.  He now knows several hand signals (come, sit, stay, down, good boy, and no).  And we have many more hand signals we want to teach him. He now knows how to swim in the pool and LOVES it. Who knew splashing and biting the water could be so much fun?! He loves his morning jog with Ron and his evening walks with me. We've had a couple doggie play dates so far, and both were very successful and fun. We also took him to the Bark at the Ball Park event at Bright House Field in Clearwater. Edison did so very well seeing all the other dogs. Since he was the only Dal there, he got lots of attention from people too. His blue eye is quite a magnet for kids and adults, and he loves all the attention.

BlueNewHomeIt only took him about a week to sleep through the entire night. He probably missed his spotted friends at Sandy and Brian's house. And since we are giving him lots of physical activity every day, he probably realizes he needs to get a full night's sleep every day. :-)

We took him to our vet the first week that we had him. They said he is really closer to 12 months old and could actually be slightly over 12 months. So we picked July 8 as his birthday. We celebrated his 1st birthday yesterday with a jog, a doggie play date, some treats in a Kong, and a puppy massage in front of the TV last night.

Ron and I just love him to pieces and are so glad to have him in our family.  Thank you so much for all you and the other volunteers do to help find homes for all these spots.  We are looking forward to coming to the event in October.  I will keep my eyes peeled for more details on the event.

I've attached a few pictures of him.  Hope you enjoy!

Thank you again,
Linda
